Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Goals
Reidy Creek will be a great school. It will be a school with a lasting culture, a school that is purpose driven, a school that supports superior academic achievement for every single student. It will also be a school that focuses on the development of good character in staff, students, and families, and the development of emotional literacy. Strong communication skills will be fostered in every member of our school community. Developing this kind of organization requires commitment on the part of every one of our stakeholders. I believe that our goals can best be met through a collaborative process. As the instructional leader, I will use this collaborative process to involve parents, staff, students, and community members to develop the mission, vision, core values and goals of Reidy Creek School.
The philosophical foundation for this effort will be based on sound educational practice and research. There are several references that will be key to the process of selecting staff and building the culture of the school. Good to Great, by Jim Collins, is a research summary that discusses common elements of great lasting Fortune 500 companies and how they behave differently than other companies that either didn't flourish as well, or didn't last as long as companies found to be great by his criteria. Professional Learning Communities That Work, by Richard DuFour and Robert Eaker, discusses proven school improvement strategies and how many of the better schools were able to achieve strong, collaborative teams that boosted school achievement. Working with Emotional Intelligence, by Daniel Goleman, poses the idea that personal qualities such as initiative and empathy as well as persuasiveness and adaptability along with strong communication skills are "the new yardstick" for measuring a person's aptitude for success
The first step in shaping the school is to get the right, expert people involved in the process. The School Leadership Team and key parent leaders will work to shape the mission/purpose, vision, core values and goals of Reidy Creek Elementary School. Students will also have opportunities to share their thoughts about what they believe an ideal school would look like.
Our school will be provided purpose through this exciting process. All of our efforts will be focused on the activities that will contribute to student success.
