Mission Statement

We are dedicated to enhancing educational excellence for our children by providing additional funds and resources for L. R. Green Elementary School.

.

Why do we have a Foundation?

(or "Why Doesn't L.R. Green Have a PTA?")

L. R. Green used to have a PTA. Parents paid "dues" to join & up to 45% of that money went to the National PTA. There were also numerous restrictions on how PTA-generated funds could be spent.

In order to keep every dollar raised here at L.R. Green, a group of concerned parents & teachers formed the L.R. Green Educational Foundation in 2003.

The Foundation's goal is to raise money to fill the gap between today's school budget & the education our kids need. The money we raise pays for art & music, PE equipment, library books & computers in our classrooms.

We are a tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation with a board made up of PARENTS.

It is not called a PTA, but it serves the same purpose, with the bonus of greater flexibility and impact for L.R. Green.

The L. R. Green Educational Foundation:

  • Is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation whose sole purpose is to raise money for programs at L.R. Green School.
  • Is a 100% volunteer organization. You are a part of the Foundation as soon as you enroll your child at L. R. Green. You don't have to "join" or pay dues.
  • Has a Board of Directors made up of L.R. Green parents, that distributes money based upon input from parents, teachers & our administrators.
  • Sends over 98% of funds raised directly back intoour school.
  • Raised over $50,000 last year through our fundraising activities.
