Kindergarten Lessons

 

The lessons below include PDF files that can be read on any computer so long as you have Acrobat Reader. They also include original AppleWorks 6.0, HyperStudio 4.x, and Kid Pix files; you'll need the programs to work with those files. You'll need Stuffit Expander to expand those files (it usually happens automatically).Most lessons contain full instuctions.
Horses and Ducks
Students will place pictures of animals behind a fence. Students then add up the number of legs. Students will also learn to write a mathematical equation that supports a multiple measures prompt. Created by Elvi Benitez-Mackintosh
Sea Life
Students use Kid Pix to write about the sea animal of their choice and then use the draw tools to paint an appropriate environment. developedin ETT Institutes by Joan Bohnstedt and Marissa Plascencia-Contreras.
Word Spacing
Students will listen to a sentence articulated on the computer and create spaces between words to recreate the model sentence. Students will also count the number of words in a sentence. Letter/Word Sort
Students use HyperStudio to sort letters, words, and pictures. Developed in ETT Institutes by Wendy wallace, Amy Waller, and Stacy Stech.
Ending Sounds
Students use HyperStudio to click and drag pictures with the correct ending sounds. Matches multiple Measures. Developed in ETT Institutes by Connie Booth, Shanta Muñoz, and Marge Mathews.
Venn Diagrams
Students use HyperStudio Player to practice sorting in Venn Diagrams. They check their answers on an animated answer card. There are 3 different activities. Developed in ETT Institutes by Mike Tillyer.
Kite Shop
Students use HyperStudio Player to build scaffolded lessons with draggable pattern blocks. Matches multiple Measures. Developed in ETT Institutes by Connie Blackburn.
Rhyming Words
This is a fun lesson using HyperStudio Player that gives students lots of practice with rhyming words. Developed in ETT Institutes by Laurie Wilson and Karen Sleichter.
Sight Words
A useful Kid Pix lesson dealing with sight word recognition. There are over 30 templates to choose from and it is planned so that students do more and more of the work on the computer as they become familiar with the procedure. Developed in ETT Institutes.
Color Game
This is a lesson that gives the students a chance to practice counting and sorting.
What is my Animal?
This is a lesson that gives the students a chance to record their voices on the computer describing an animal. Later, all of the students' work is collected for an aural Slide Show.

K Count
Kid Pix Studio templates that practice skill of counting pictures and writing number in a sentence. Uses pencil tool, thickness, and color. Developed with Kindergarten teacher Chris Blake at Lincoln Primary.
K Graph
Kid Pix Studio templates that practice Multiple Measures skill of counting pictures, stamping the number in a sentence, and graphing the data. Eight templates and sample included. Developed with Kindergarten teachers from L.R. Green and Central Elementary Schools.
K Label Insect
Kid Pix Studio. Students drag words to match insect body parts. Brief instructions. Developed w/ Central Kindergarten teachers.
