The lessons below include PDF files that can be read on any computer so long as you have Acrobat Reader. They also include original AppleWorks 6.0, HyperStudio 4.x, and Kid Pix files; you'll need the programs to work with those files. You'll need Stuffit Expander to expand those files (it usually happens automatically).Most lessons contain full instuctions.

Social Studies
Famous Americans
Students complete a pre-done database template on a Famous American. Designed to complement a larger Social Studies unit, it could also be used as a stand alone assignment. There are five layouts available for printing.

Life and the American Revolution
Students utilize and internet-based lesson to learn about life in the American Colonies during the mid 1700's.
Images of a Revolution
Students create HyperStudio Presentations based on the information they find through Intrernet research.
Civil War Battles
Students do extensive directed research on the Internet and use their findings to build a database of information. They do various sorts to answer questions. Created by Mike Sullivan. Developed in ETT Institutes.
Bio Boxes
Lesson uses a pre-formatted database to fill in biographical information. Once complete, one of the layouts produces a foldable cube pattern.
Science
Science Current Events
Students use some very solid websites to research and report on current events in the world of Science. Created by Fred Woods, James Dillane, and Gene Baker. Developed in ETT Institutes.
Roller Coaster Mania
Students design their own roller coaster based on the physical parameters they're given.
Math
Units of Measure
Students will decide on the advantages and disadvantages of the metric and U.S./English systems of measurement. Students will also measure the mass and volume of regularly and irregularly shaped objects, and convert measurements within that system of measurement. This lesson can be taught as a sole lesson or as an interdisciplinary unit in math and science.
There's No Place Like Home
Students learn the rudiments of database through a daily tracking of weather in Escondido and a remote site. Once established, this lesson is self-sustaining.
Language Arts
Flowers for Algernon
Students explore the prejudices faced by handicapped persons and share their findings through HyperStudio Presentations. Developed in ETT Institutes.
The Outsiders
Students create a word processing document in AppleWorks as they collect data and think critically on current social problems.
Making a Bibliography on the Internet
Regardless of the resource, learn how to cite it correctly on Noodlebib.com. An excellent resource when making bibliographies for any subject. Developed in ETT Institutes.

Book Presentation

Visual Vocabulary
Use iMovie, a digital camera, and AlphaSmarts to create a class movie which visually defines vocabulary.
