Professional Teacher Induction and Support Program

Susie VanHouten, Coordinator

What is EUSD’s Professional Teacher Induction/Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program?

* EUSD’s California State Approved Professional Teacher Induction/BTSA Program is designed around the California State Professional Teacher Induction and BTSA Program Standards to provide professional development and growth opportunities for fully-prepared first and second year teachers, as well as other eligible out of state teachers.

* Through individual Advice and Assistance, the program is designed to meet the professional development needs of two groups of teachers: 1) those who have received a Professional Clear Teaching Credential through and university and must now make application to their acquired professional knowledge, and 2) those who have received a Preliminary Teaching Credential from a university, must apply acquired professional knowledge, and must complete the state requirements for attaining Multiple and/or Single Subject Professional Teaching Credentials as they expand and deepen their teaching knowledge and skill.

* EUSD’s Induction/BTSA Program provides a smooth transition into the complex responsibilities of teaching, increases the retention of beginning teachers, and improves learning opportunities for EUSD’s K-8 students.

* EUSD’s Induction/BTSA Program leadership believes the most powerful factor in student achievement is the quality of the teacher. A caring, competent, and well-qualified teacher is the most important ingredient in educational reform.

* Our purpose is to support the development of teachers who promote quality student learning experiences for all students through the vision and commitment to their own professional development, professional growth, and reflective teaching practice. EUSD Support Providers have this same commitment, and strive to support less experienced teachers in meeting their full potential.
