EUSD and Conway School are committed to a singular instructional focus this year: reading comprehension. After an extensive review of our student data and after a year of collaboration with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE), California Department of Education (CDE) and UCSD, the explicit teaching of comprehension strategies has been determined to be the district's and Conway's top priority. As a team of teachers, administrators and parents we want to become comprehension experts so that our students can easily apply comprehension strategies, read fluently and can benefit from this district wide and school wide focus on comprehension. We will hold ourselves accountable for teaching comprehension skills and expect our students to know, understand and apply comprehension skills in every subject area, everyday.
