Principal's Message
Greetings Bear Families,
The 2008-09 school year is coming to a close soon. We have
successfully completed state testing, our 2nd Annual International
Fair and the 8th grade Celebrating Unity Ball for both villages. We
welcomed the parents of our incoming 6th grade students at orientation
night. We recognized Pam DeArmond as the Bear Valley Middle
School Classified Employee of the Year and our very own Robin Hartman
as the District Middle School Teacher of the Year. We still have
many End-of-the-Year events planned for your students. The
information provided in this message will serve to inform you and
ask for your support in making the end of the school year a positive
experience for all students.
We want all students to be able to participate in these
important End-of-the-Year activities, therefore, we need your
help in working with your students to have acceptable and positive
behavior. While we want students to enjoy themselves, we cannot
tolerate anything that will disrupt the school day and/or create
a safety concern for any of our students on campus. The following items are
not allowed at any of the events including the last day of school:
shaving cream, whipped cream, silly string, raw eggs, water balloons,
squirt guns, stink bombs, firecrackers, Sharpie permanent markers
or any other dangerous/disruptive item of no reasonable use at
school will be not be allowed on campus. If students have
any of these items on campus at any time, they will be suspended
and forfeit the privilege to participate in the planned grade level
and school-wide events.
Any students that are on Honor Level 3 or 4, will be excluded
from activities as well. If a student repeats offenses, s/he
will be restricted from participating in nutrition break and lunch
with the rest of his/her peers for the remainder of the school
year. Additionally, all obligations including detention,
Friday Night School, library fines and cafeteria bills owed must
be taken care of in order for students to participate in all events.
We are requesting that students NOT bring backpacks or
purses to school Monday through Wednesday, June 15th – 17th, the
last week (2 ½ days) of school. Backpacks or purses
brought on those days will be kept in the office until students
are dismissed that day. On June 17th, the last day of school,
students will be dismissed from Kit Carson Park at the end of promotion.
We have had a great year at Bear Valley Middle School
thanks to our wonderful staff, supportive families and exemplary
students. Thank
you for your support in counseling your student regarding making
wise decisions regarding academics and behavior. The large
majority of our students have exhibited excellent conduct and demonstrated
positive leadership while exemplifying our motto, “Honor,
Pride, Respect.”
Sincerely,
Mark R. Garner
