McKinney-Vento Project SUCCESS
McKinney-Vento Project SUCCESS supports students and families who are homeless. This includes families who are “doubled-up” due to loss of housing or economic hardship. Project SUCCESS helps families by connecting them to resources in the community. This may include: providing transportation, referrals to counseling, school supplies, and resources for food, clothing and housing. The MVRC will also assist with immediate enrollment in school and give information about a student’s rights while he/she is homeless.
McKinney-Vento Project SUCCESS:
Supporting students to have equal access to and success with the curriculum
Upgrading procedures for identification of homeless families
Connecting homeless families to community support services
Collaborating with outside agencies to provide support for homeless students
Ensuring expedient enrollment upon registering for school
Systematically building awareness of the rights and needs of homeless families
Strengthening parent choice and involvement in the school
Who are Homeless Children and Youth?

- children who are living in emergency or transitional shelters
- children who have been abandoned in hospitals
- children who are awaiting permanent foster care placement
- children and youth who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings
- children and youth who are living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings
- migratory children who live in the circumstances described above
