Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program

 

Program Goals

  • Improve student performance through enhanced training, information and assistance for new teachers.
  • Enable beginning teachers to be effective in teaching students who are culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse.
  • Ensure professional success and retention of promising new teachers.
  • Establish and implement a system of performance assessments based on the Californial Standards for the Teaching Profession.

Program Outcomes

 

Through active involvement and committing to Professional Growth Beginning Teachers will:

  • Organize and manage an effective classroom and create a positive learning environment
  • Plan and design instruction using student content standards
  • Deliver instruction to all of my students while meeting the needs of all students
  • Use subject matter knowledge effectively in teaching
  • Participate and engage in district professional development activities
  • Diagnose and evaluate students in a variety of ways
  • Engage with colleagues, parents, and students as a member of a learning community
  • Use the Plan, Teach, Reflect, and Apply cycle in the learning to teach process
  • Improve the quality of teaching skills and knowledge
  • Step outside the box, take risks beyonda comfort level, and learn from teaching experiences
  • Become confident in making the right decision to become a teacher
  • Ask for additional help and feedback when needed, and understand where to go for help and support
  • Become a highly successful teacher
