BTSA Colloquium
The BTSA/Professional Teacher Induction Program is a State-mandated
two-year program for new teachers to be eligible to qualify
for the Professional Clear Teaching Credential. The annual
BTSA Colloquium, held on May 20 is the final component of
a year's reflective study. 115 teachers, administrators and
guests participated in the time where beginning teachers
reflect upon their knowledge of their students and their
families and also highlight their growth and dedication to
the teaching profession. Beginning teachers used portfolios,
displays and technology to highlight their student's success
growth as well as their own accomplishments.
Guests were welcomed by BTSA Director, Susie VanHouten. Superintendent
Jennifer Walters thanked all of EUSD's newest teachers for
all of their dedication to the children of our district during
some very difficult times. She also stated that the Board
of Education and the district administration have struggled
with the possibility of losing some very fine teachers. California
Teacher of the Teacher, a former BTSA participant, Alex Kajatani
and Year 2 participant, Oscar Eusebio, both Mission Middle
School teachers, reflected on their growth and experiences
in the teaching profession.
Before the end of the evening, participating BTSA teachers,
who had been randomly selected by drawing, were awarded door
prizes donated by businesses in the greater San Diego area.
